This spring, I tried to slow down. I got into my new house and got it mostly settled. I’ve been trying to let the natural rhythms of life slow me down. So I enjoyed this spring and taking a few things I’ve learned and let it carry me into the summer and fall.
1 Enjoy being outside while you can. Summer is here, and it’s always hotter than I think. Sit out on the porch and enjoy the breeze. Not to mention, you never know when you would have missed a double rainbow if you had been inside watch tv.
2 Take a break from working. 2020 was a challenging year, but I was still living like it was 2020. Taking my first days off helped me realize how much I need space to breathe and just be. It helps me to feel human and to take a deep breath. Never leave your vacation days unused – even if you stay home and sleep in.
Flowers from my garden
4 Plant some flowers. I recently moved to a new house and actually have room for a small garden. I planted flowers and while digging in the dirt is its own form of therapy, also getting sunshine is a bonus. I spent too much time indoors in 2020, so getting out and getting sun and fresh air has helped renew my sense of self.
