    Glacier Bay National Park

Another favorite part of my Alaska trip was Glacier Bay National Park. When we first entered Glacier Bay I was disappointed – it was foggy and drizzly. The fog was so thick that it was like we were sailing through clouds. As we got further into the park I started seeing chunks of ice floating close to the boat. I became fascinated with the way the water looked like glass at points – even though the boat was moving the water it had this mysterious quality to it.  As we got closer to Margerie Glacier the fog started lifting and like a miracle we got a gorgeous view.  The rest of the day ended up being picture perfect weather.

It’s hard to get a picture of just how big this area is. I ended up taking so many pano shots on my Olympus EM1mkii and the 12-100 PRO.  Glacier Bay National Park is just absolutely stunning and I only saw a very small corner of it.

  • Out of all the trips in Alaska, Skagway was one of my favorites. The little town tucked away in the inside passage – surrounded by beauty. The town itself is cute but still has a ton of jewelry stores (seriously what is it with these towns and jewelry stores?) and…

  • Juneau – When plans change My first stop in Alaska was Juneau. It was raining/snowing and so foggy that you could not even see the shore – even though I knew it was right beside us. It was miserably cold and I found out that my 6 hour kayak trip…

  • I’ve been back from Alaska for a few days and starting to finally get my land legs underneath me.  I will be editing Alaska photos for probably the rest of my life. I did not realize how many panos and bracketed photos I took – which means for one image…

  • Tomorrow I leave for Alaska, but I’ve been packing and repacking my camera bag for a few weeks now. As a photographer, we all know the struggle of packing the perfect bag. Take too little – regret it … take too much – regret it. It’s probably easier to walk…

  • Two weekends ago I went back to Cheekwood to catch the last of the tulips. The Nashville area was going to have some freezing weather and I knew the tulips would not last much longer. It was a drizzly day so the garden was mostly empty – just me, my…

  • I picked up the Olympus TG5 off of eBay. I wanted a camera I could take kayaking with me in Alaska next month. I previously owned the TG3, which I took to New Zealand on a kayak trip, so I knew I would love this version. I got my TG5…

  • I want to start this by saying I’m not an overly techie person. If you came here for an overly techie answer this won’t be the place. If you came here looking for a solution that just works please read on. Custom Mode…umm what? Custom mode (Mysets) on Olympus cameras…

  • One of my favorite times of year in Nashville is spring when Cheekwood is in bloom. It’s a color wonderland. I look forward to going every year to see the new tulips and explore the colors. If you are in the Nashville area and have not been to Cheekwood it’s…
