The last several days Imaging USA was in town. I went to the expo floor on Monday. It’s always fun to walk the floor and check everything out. Tons of photo labs, bag companies, photo toys, and tools. I enjoyed the floor but was there to check out the demo’s and play with new lenses at the Olympus booth.
Olympus had a juggler on the stage to start the morning and he was completely mesmerizing.
Tracie Maglosky was the first presenter of the day. I loved watching her do her voodoo magic and that is what it felt like. She was tethered so you could see each shot she took on the screens above and her straight out of camera images were beautiful! She shared a trip of using mashed potatoes to get a wonderful effect to the images. I managed to snap a few images from the side view I had.
Scott Bourne did a great presentation on birding. I am not a bird photographer but it was a great talk and he even brought out a peregrine falcon and did a live shoot with.
Next up was Amanda Strozeski and a great talk on rescue photography. I recently adopted a sweet little Maltipoo rescue who is scared of the camera so I walked away with some great pointers to get better pictures of her. Also, she inspired me to work on my dog portraits and volunteer at a local shelter.
I also got to play with the new 45mm 1.2 lens! Wow, what a lens. I loved the steam punk-styled area you could test out camera and lenses.
All in all, it was a great day. I talked to several people from Olympus. I also ended up talking to several people hanging out around the booth and got to answer questions about the great Olympus system.
